THE CHALLENGE
Locate scooters and respond when they leave the service area
The operator needed to keep track of scooters distributed throughout the city and respond when a unit was taken beyond the permitted service area.
Without a reliable location record and a way to restrict further use, staff had limited options for dealing with suspected theft or unauthorised removal. Finding scooters for evening collection also required knowing where they had been left.
THE SOLUTION
Link boundary checks, blocking and collection
START S-2011 trackers connected 42 electric scooters to a monitoring server, providing location records and a command path for operator-initiated relay blocking.
Follow scooters across the operating area
The operator defined geographic zones A, B and C in the monitoring system. Zone C formed the outer boundary of the permitted service area. Scooter positions were checked against these zones on the server. This allowed the operator to see where units were located and identify those leaving the authorised territory.
Let the operator decide when to request blocking
The operator reviewed a scooter’s reported location and, when blocking was required, manually sent a command through the monitoring platform to the installed S-2011. Crossing zone C did not automatically activate blocking. The tracker controlled the connected relay in response to the operator’s command. This gave staff a remote way to restrict scooter operation. Command delivery depended on communication with the server. Location information remained important for checking the situation and arranging recovery.
Use location records for evening collection
Staff used the latest reported positions to locate scooters requiring collection for charging. The same tracking information therefore served two daily needs: responding to unauthorised departures and finding equipment for routine fleet servicing.
CUSTOMER-REPORTED OUTCOMES
A defined response and easier evening collection
The operator could locate its 42 scooters, manually request blocking when needed and arrange recovery.
The customer reported that this helped prevent unauthorised removal and theft. Staff also used the latest reported positions to find scooters for evening charging collection.
WHY START S-2011
Locate scooters and manage their return
S-2011 allowed the rental operator to act after identifying a scooter that required attention: request blocking manually and arrange recovery. Tracking was therefore part of the response to unauthorised removal, not just a map for observing it.
The same location information helped staff organise evening collection for charging across the 42-scooter fleet.
